Clubhouse Kitchen Renovation

8 Jan 2017 by Iain Hughes

The clubhouse kitchen renovation is complete!
So now we must thank the many people who helped and contributed along the way!
We started these plans many months ago and the design was to provide a new clean kitchen & create additional space by knocking through an internal wall into what was previously our existing equipment store. Thanks to Howdens Wishaw for their advice and guidance in the early stages. We then had to find storage for all our training and match day equipment, William Gardner kindly donated a large container for use and this was approved by our partners in SLLC. We then needed to prepare the site for the container and this was completed by 2 of our Eagles Parents Tommy Taylor & Dougie Rennie. Site cleared and ready, Rennie Angus Rennie Angus stepped in and assisted with the transportation of the container to the club with Buildbase in Law providing the sleepers it now rests on. James Teece & myself weatherproofed the roof of the container whilst David Mcphail carried out some ground maintenance and the equipment was transferred. Mouse Valley Plant Hire then assisted in digging a track so we were able to supply power to the container from the clubhouse and this will be completed by our resident sparks Andrew Kent & Neal Cowan.
The contract for the work was put out to tender & club sponsor Ian Nicol’s company of Clyde Joinery was awarded the work. It was a long process not helped by the PM at times but thankfully Ian was patient and knew what we were trying to achieve. New tiling was put in along with a fantastic feature wall and all tiles were supplied by another club sponsor Extreme Ceramics in Carluke. The new flooring was laid by Walker Carpets. New kitchen equipment was sourced by our Chef Andy Nevans which was kindly collected, stored and then delivered to the club by another sponsor & Eagle parent Hugh Black. We then ran into delays and setbacks but were thankfully rescued by James Ramsay who completed our tiling. Another Eagle parent Thomas McGauley then assisted by painting the kitchen for us with Vicki Short giving the place a deep clean!
Past Presidents & Players, to current players and Eagles Parents there have been many who have helped us along the way – without your help and support we wouldn’t have this great new facility that will be well used over the many years to come – we hope you enjoy it and come out to see us soon!
The final thanks has to go to ALL of 200 club members! The 200 club exists with a sole purpose to assist in the development & maintenance of the clubhouse – the 200 club provided a significant amount of funding for this project & without their assistance it would not have been possible! 200 Club membership forms are available should you wish to join at a cost of only £1 per month!
